Colt. It's the only one I own, but I like the idea of my 1911 (and maybe future 1911s) being Colts. I looked hard at a Sig Tac Ops, but decided to stick with Colt.

I might sound idiotic... But....

I have the new Ed Brown, and I owned the exact same gun from Ed Brown several years ago. So, I know what I have, and it is a fantastic gun!

But, despite the cost and the higher "level" of the Brown... At this point, I will say that I voted Dan Wesson. I don't know what it is about the stainless Valor, but I think it's my favorite 1911 I've ever owned... And, the two 1911s I have now put me at #'s 9 and 10 for the # of 1911s I've had over the years. I fell in love with the Valor as soon as I picked it up at the local shop.

So, I voted Dan Wesson....

That's an impossible question for me to answer without lots of qualifiers. I'll have to go with Springfield Armory only because they make the best foundation gun for my money. If I could only have one 1911 by any maker it would be an STI for a 45ACP or Dan Wesson for a 38Super.

I wish that deal in Madisonville would have had one. I don't wanna have to wait forever and a day, but my preference is to handle what I am buying when it comes to a 1911 if possible.

North American Arms Co.

Unknown how many were finally assembled with parts from this Canadian company after the U.S. Government cancelled the contract in 1918, certainly no more than 100.  Serial Number 86 went up for auction a couple of years back with an expected sale of around $50k.  I never heard the final bid, it could have been much higher.

Why is that? Just curious.

Never heard of them before - interesting. There are so many small shops, it is impossible to know them all.
