I seen a feller OPEN CARRY BOTH Saturday and Sunday.

ME.   :th_thicon_lol:    I normally conceal, but we had 2 days of JULY weather and it was too hot to worry about it.

Now, given, we were at camp but driving through town. And I DIDNT get out of the vehicle in town.

But we went through Wendys drive thru and I was in the passenger seat.
It dawned on me the window girl was REALLY looking at my CZ.  :thinker:
We were dressed decent, in a nice vehicle. ANd when I realized she was staring, I said " THANK YOU VERY MUCH with a smile".

So I actually pulled a common sense boner I preach AGAINST. Here we are ,, AFTER a mass shooting, and I went to town with an open carry and some nervous nellie seen it.  :facepalm:

She didnt say anything and the cops didnt run us down,, so,,,.
Politicians are like diapers, they should be changed often, and for the same reason.

I usually conceal carry. Occasionally I will open carry around my place but that's about it. Last Saturday I helped at a wedding of good friends. Most of their guest were from out of state so, the bride and groom to be asked me, my son and my nephew to dress "Texas". You know, hat, boots, Wranglers, pearl snap shirts and all. Then the bride to be asked if I would open carry so that her out of state guest would get the full Texas effect. The boys and I were basically just directing traffic in the parking area. There were about 100 guest and I got a few "looks" but only one person engaged in conversation. She asked several questions like "and who are you?" and "What do you do" ect. She never directly asked about the 1911 on my hip but I could tell that was the reason for her inquiry. Finally, I removed my cowboy hat and my sunglasses and said " It's me, CJ, We sit on the same row every Sunday morning in church." She didn't recognize me because of the hat and glasses. Once she realized who I was she seemed much more relaxed. So, out of all the guest, the only one who seemed to question my open carrying was a local.

List of places I can remember seeing OC besides me. This is not counting gun shops. I live in Angelina County. Lufkin is the County Seat. We are 125 miles North of Houston.
WalMart 3 times I can count and I don't go there unless wife and I are out and she has to go, IHOP pretty regular, Pilot fuel stop occasionally, Flower shop our church uses once, Lone Star Charley's Restaurant regular, LOWES several times, Cracker Barrel few times, Catfish King once,
It has been 2years now. I have OCed here, Nacogdoches County, Houston, had a subway employee question it there, Smith County, Tyler, not a 2nd look, Round Rock, Austin, Nothing either place there. Beaumont nothing.  Travel to West Texas and no issues at any fuel stop or eating place. First 6 months got asked a lot of Qs for learning and info.
All I can remember.

Always thought that Natalie Wood was pretty hot in that movie.

To All,

I stopped at Valero at New Braunfels & I-35 last evening about 2100 & saw a man with a 1911-style SA on his belt. = That's the only OC that I've seen since AUG17. = OC is not common here in The Alamo City for sure, except for uniformed police/security..

yours, satx

I was at Athena Gun Club, Niko Niko's, Freedom Munitions, Kroger, and a liquor store today. Open carried at all except Athena which has a 30.07 sign.

I see someone OCing every day: ME!
Sadly though, have never seen anyone else (so far) OCing here in ELP, TX. And when I lived in Colorado, rarely (hardly ever) saw anyone...except me again!  ;-)

I don't know about you guys, but I haven't been accidentally shot to death on purpose in a dark alley by any blood thirsty second amendment/open carry fanatics yet. Nor have I been mowed down by any law abiding citizens open carrying belt fed machine guns. In fact, come to think of it, I haven't even had an open carried bazooka aimed in my general direction, or been run over by an open carried (driven?) tank either, and it's been a year.

Dudes, I think it's time we com to terms with the fact that this open carry amendment may be defective. We were promised by the guys on the left rampant scenes of massacre everywhere and they have't happened yet; I'm almost beginning to think those friendly anti-OC guys were lying sacks of s*** or something.

(In fact, come to think about it, now that the knife restriction law has been repealed, I haven't had my head lopped off by a guy with a claymore yet either. Anybody that's been viciously stabbed to death with a legally carried spear, raise your right hands for a head[less] count.)

so far i have seen very, very few people open carrying. the few i have seen or noticed were usually elderly men carrying smaller revolvers or semi-autos in belt type holster. if i hadn't just happened to see the holster and pistol, i probably wouldn't have noticed anyways.

@Axxe55:
IME, MOST people don't notice...even when the gun is up-front & clearly visible.
So you can be pretty sure even less people would notice someone CCing, even if their gun was obviously printing or partly exposed. COPS might though -- but who knows.

my opinion might be in how a person carries openly that would or wouldn't draw attention to them carrying.

a younger guy with a T-shirt that says "Kill them all and let God sort them out" and tactical tie down holster with a huge Desert Eagle would more than likely draw much more attention than an old guy with smaller revolver in discreet belt holster. just an observation.

i do not oppose open carry, but i much prefer concealed carry in public and open carry when i'm around on the farm.

@Axxe55:
Interesting you mentioned a Desert Eagle: I saw a guy carrying (OC) one of those in a Walmart in Colorado Springs...didn't see the gun at first, just the huge double-mag pouch on his offside. Then I looked for the gun: Yep a Desert Eagle...HAD to be with mags that size!
Made my gun look pretty tiny, I assure you! Even told the guy so when we talked for a bit.
But then again, "it's not the size of the gun but how you use it?" Still...   ;-)
