TGFSC Mission Statement
« on: April 03, 2012, 04:07:16 PM »
Hey guys, I just wanted to say a few things about what the club is all about. A few of us got the idea to turn this into a club after we had our first successful meet and shoot. The TGFSC is a group of like minded for the most part individuals who enjoy getting together, having a good time, shooting, and talking. Our goals and mission consists of:

Helping to keep the sport of shooting alive.

As everyone is well aware of, Big Brother is slowly trying to take our second amendment rights away. There is power to be heard, and that is by getting out and shooting and supporting your local ranges and the NRA.

Teaching the future generations about our sport.

As the years have progressed, shooting sports have become less common place among folk. Now days, kids only see guns and shooting in video games. Why not teach them the virtues and sportsmanship of actually learning to shoot?

Fellowship.

Everyone here LOVES shooting. That is why we are on an online forum, to talk about it. Well, talking about it over the computer is one thing, but getting out of the house and enjoying shooting TOGETHER is a whole different and even more fun thing.

Safety.

For anyone new to the sport of shooting, they of course do not know the basic rules of safety, and that is why we are here, is to teach them. The club is open to anybody wishing to join, and take part in, the sport of shooting with this group. With our combined knowledge, we all have the experience and know how to teach new shooters the basics of safety and marksmanship.

To be heard.

The bigger we get, the more people will hear us. We are not only being seen and heard, and drawing attention to the forum, we are also standing up for our second amendment rights as Americans, so that we may continue to enjoy our great sport.

Again, I want to thank everyone who helps make this possible. Without you guys, the active shooters and forum members, we would not have been able to come as far as we have, and still continue to grow. I want to welcome everyone to TGFSC, old members and new joining members alike. Remember, shoot safe, and importantly, HAVE FUN!

I've only been to one meet myself. It was a lot of fun.

Kinda hard to sync everyone's schedules though. Which is why I believe the idea was put forth to make it a regular thing on a quarterly basis? I may be wrong on the spacing, maybe it was supposed to be bi-monthly.

In any case, if you are a reasonable drive from Houston, its worth the trip.

Sorry, I landed in the middle of this thread-- where, when does the TGFSC meet?

Hope to see you there!!!!!

New to the forum so if posted elsewhere I haven't found it yet, but where and when? Do you post a schedule? I am in Conroe, so anywhere around Houston is fine.

Welcome again.  As the newest member, we'll hold the next meeting in Conroe at your house.  How about April 15? :)

Aloha :)

It's been a while since we've had a shoot scheduled. Everyone has been kinda busy lately. We did 1 or 2 here ibn College Station in the past, as a 1/2 way point for some people. We'll see if we have another

Someone else took it over, and it was to be reopened. That was a few months ago. It should be open

Marksman Academy reopened at the beginning of February under new ownership. Was out there about three weeks ago. $17 for an all day pass. I was on the 50' range sighting in the new Burris on my PMR 30 and had planned to move to the rifle range to shoot my new AR and CZ Scorpion carbine when the skies opened up. Unless your into "mudding" and have a 4WD that is not a place you want to be when it rains. Had the wife's Cadillac SUV so I had to leave. Seems like they made a few improvements. Will probably head back out there in a couple of weeks with my SKS and see whats up on the rifle range.

So, do they finally have a 50 yard rifle range set up?

Yes, I went out there once when itw as muddy. Took me 30 minutes to wash out the wheel wells of my mini SUV when I got back home. U don't want to be there after a rain.

Shipwreck, I never made it that far. The rifle range was open and it is at least 50 yards if not more but that's just a guess. I'm headed back out there, weather permitting, the weekend of April 15 & 16. If I go I'll put the information up here.

Ok. Well, I know they have a 100 yard range. But, I'm mostly interested in a 50 yard range. The last owner would no longer let ya set a target at 50 yards, 1/2 way down the shooting area.
