So as many of you know I picked up this "low end" Diamondback DB15 CCB. It now has almost 1000 rounds down range and here are my thoughts.
First some specs... It has a 1:9 twist a melonite (coated it says) barrel and receiver. The receiver is 165 steel and the upper and lower are both 7075 aluminium. The buttstock is an ATI..
Reliability - 0 Failures.... I have just finished coming from TXgunrange where I finished putting steel through it after sighting in the scope. At an indoor range previously I had put 3 magazines (90 rounds) through it with no misfeeds or failures... I had just cleaned it because before that it had over 400 rounds of Federal American Eagle 62 grain put down range through it... Today I put another magazine of Federal down range as well as 4 magazines of crappy TULA... 0 failures.
Accuracy - I am not sure on this.. I sighted in the scope but I believe the sight mount might have loosened after I sighted in the scope.. I re tightened it down but I was shooting TULA and it was low and left.. I didn't want to adjust the MOA on my Vortex Crossfire II using TULA so I left it alone.. it seemed to shoot low and left.. I believe i mis sighted the scope and therefore even though it was shitty TULA ammo the MOA was pretty close between 1 to 2 at 100 yards...
Build Quality - It uses the same grade aluminum as premium manufacturers, although the bolt carrier group is made of 165 melonite coated steel... There are definitely better out there but this seems to go through anything you put through it.. I will clean it tomorrow afternoon and we'll see how dirty she got after 210 rounds of TULA the past two weeks... The barrel is chrome-moly melnonite coated with a 1:9 twist.. and the quad rail is aircraft aluminum.. it could be smaller... The barrel did not get too hot during firing..
Value - For the 450 to 500 dollar price tag these guns have been going for on Gunbroker and other similar sites.. I don't think you'll find a better weapon for the price point.. Maybe I'm wrong and maybe you folks can educate me on this, but for what you're getting you won't find much better. I scored the rifle alone for about 420 bucks in January brand new. With 3 magazines and a case I paid 450 OTT.
The gun with my cheap CV bipod and magpul foregrip and Vortex Crossfire II 3-9 x 40 scope
Sighting in at 100 yards using federal ammo..
Tula pot shooting at 100 yards.. obviously low left..
