Anyone have a Slide Fire Product for AR15 Carbines and AK's?
« on: August 10, 2011, 02:50:16 PM »
Anyone have a Slide Fire Product for Semi-Auto AR15 Carbines and AK's?  The product is legal becauses it fires on a bump action.

http://www.slidefiresolutions.com/Products.html

Video I found on youtube:
http://youtu.be/l0BgLk1i9yY

My first opinion is that the stock would hurt after a while firing in automatic mode.
Simple to install
Would give you a somewhat automatic firing feature to your rifle.
Easy to operate
Cheaper than paying the Taxes for full auto.

This isn't a product endorsement but wanted to get people's opinions.

Might be fun, how badly does it effect accuracy?

This one doesn't have springs.  It suppose to fit on collapsable buffer stock tubes.

RCC in action!!!

Yes, I wonder how accurate it is, too.
Plus, I wonder if one could put a better recoil pad on the stock.

This doesn't modify the gun at all and has no springs.  Its basically helping you bumpfire without doing the usual stupid thing of putting your thumb through your belt loop and pulling the AR forward.  I would like to have one of these.

I actually find the slide fire to more accurate than one of my sear guns. I say this because the amount of pressure you put on the fore end dictates how fast it shoots. I didnt get video of what I was shooting at, but in both of those videos I was shooting at silouhette targets. I put all thirty rounds on center mass. Granted I have shot with this alot. My first time out I was walking shots up the hill, it definately takes some time to get the technique right, but once you do its alot of fun.

Seen them at gun shows before but never in live fire (only video).  Didn't see that they had one for AK's though.  Then again, given mine's a folder I doubt it would work anyway.  Guess it's thumb time.

Just picked up one myself recently.
Took it to the range a few days ago....
Turns out it was a blast to shoot and was more accurate than I thought it would be!
Granted... you won't be shooting 1'' groups with it... but you won't be off the paper either.

Was great fun for a few minutes... but due to the fact that I was trying to get rid of the last of my crappy steel cased ammo.... gun dirtied quickly and then couldn't sustain anything more than 3 shot bursts without a round sticking.

So now waiting on order of PMC to arrive so I can go out and try it again :)

PS... I've been eye-balling one of these for a while now and I vowed not to pay $349 for one.
After thinking and thinking... I figured I'd kick myself in the future (after ATF bans them) for not getting one when I could.  So I found one that a guy was selling used for $200... done... and no paper trail :)

I would be interested around 150 bucks tops. My wallet wouldn't support all that "full auto" anyway.

I'm glad I got my fill of all the full auto and three round burst on uncle sam's dime.

vdezine what range let's you rapid fire?

A couple ranges I know will let you go full auto.  But none I know of that would let you bump fire.  And with the Slide Fire, that's essentially what you're doing.

I'm pretty sure that 'rapid firing' isn't really 'allowed' where I shoot....  (Spring Guns & Ammo)
But I'm a member there and I shoot IDPA there every week... so they know me and let me do my thing.

I really don't open it all the way up and just unload 30 round magazines in 2 seconds either.

I don't like to draw unnecessary attention... and since I was just testing it out, I keep my bursts to 3-5 at a time... then do it again.

And the way I figure... it may be good for their business... as they have an SSAR-15 for sale in their case :)

On a side note...
Yes, most all ranges do not allow 'bump firing'.

But keep in mind... that is due to the fact that 'bump firing' is done 'from the hip' or other position where no real level of control is maintained.

This is not the case with the SSAR.
Technically speaking... sure... it could be considered 'bump firing' as it uses the recoil to assist in the depression of the trigger... but firing can be done from the shoulder or practically any other 'controlled' position... so you have full control over the gun.

Spring guns and ammo allows full auto fire on their range member or not. I have a group that shoots their on a regular basis. Ryan and the rest of the group are pretty cool with what ever as long no one does anything stupid.

Exactly my point... if you shoot there regularly... He obviously knows who your are :)

If you walk in for the first time, show signs of inexperience and then start trying to blast off rounds in rapid fire.... I'd be willing to bet that they refer that person to a 'no rapid fire rule' somewhere.

The question I intended to answer was one of the earlier posters asked where can you rapid fire? Spring Guns and Ammo will allow rapid fire or full auto fire. Yes if someone shows up and does something stupid they will be asked to stop or leave, but SGA is a Class 3 friendly range as they sell and do transfers there. Not trying to be argumentative at all, just letting everyone know if they want a range that will allow rapid/full auto fire then SGA is one of the few places to go.
