Awesome products, the Fiber or a Brass front is a good combination with the all black rear. Their claim to fame is the U notch in the rear which gives more air space in the back and allows for a thinner front.

I'm just a 3 dot sight kinda guy. I've never cared for the all black rear sight - but I know others like them

Thanks for the feed back.  I am learning about the difference, front sight aquisition.  I am having old eyes syndrom and Im pissed off about it.  Just wish I would have gotten into the comp shooting sooner.

I have young eye syndrome and can't do 3 dots :)

Don't know if it's my astigmatism, general bad vision or what, but if there is something for my eyes to focus on with the rear sight, my eyes will be drawn to them. I can't do those effin' magic picture posters either, it's hard to change my focal point voluntarily (when there's something else for my eyes to focus on). So for me, the black rear gives me a blurry notch to put my front sight in - it's helped me a lot on longer (20+ yards) shots.

Im thinking like you.  I still would like to try out your 1911 with these type of sights.  Just have not been able to IDPA lately because work and family.
