It's probably the most popular Glock model... so it could be all sold out due to demand or it could be heavily stocked due to demand :)

Out of curiosity though, why are you wanting to switch? In my opinion, the two platforms aren't that different.

G17 might be more available than the G19.  I was at a range yesterday and the Glock section seems "thinner" than normal.

What 2 platforms?  I am currently shooting a XD9 and I am not improving.....  I carry a G26 but too small for IDPA.

What 2 platforms?

Glock/XD - the platforms are similar enough that I don't think switching will have any significant effect.

If you want to increase speed and accuracy check out this 150 round IDPA practice session with Caleb Giddings.

This is a case where dry fire will help more than live fire - I went back and looked at some of your videos Steve, and you have a few major time-wasters:

1) Draw
2) Shot setup going into new positions
3) Followup shots

So aside from accuracy (which is hit or miss, looking at your scores, but you should always focus on the zeros or down ones), those 3 things will save you a LOT of time. Using this video:

http://www.shilohidpa.com/Gallery/item/4933

Your draw involves a lot of movement - granted, you're having to move to see past the barricade, but your gun is tracing an S path in the air instead of pushing straight out. Your hands are also meeting at the gun too near the full draw - it should be before you press out with the gun or the mid-point of your draw (if using an indexed draw). By the time your gun is fully extended, your eyes should be on the sights already but you're losing time here because your gun is not in the right place at full extension.

When you go between shooting positions, you need to come straight into your chest with the gun, two-handed (assuming you're not running), and as you approach the position you need to push the gun out. That'll minimize the time taken to get into proper shooting position at a new position of cover.

Between almost every shot, you reset your head and grip - it's shot, head goes up to probably look at target, then head goes down to sights. That's a lot of time when you consider that's taking you 1.5-2 seconds between every shot. You need to be confident enough in your sight picture that your head stays aligned with the sights.

**

None of that will be helped by a new gun. That said, sight picture and calling your shots can be helped by new sights - while sights are a matter of preference, the giant dot combat sights that are standard on guns aren't great. My recommendation is a black adjustable rear (so you can make them shoot however you want them to shoot) and a tiny fiber optic front. Something like these:

You are welcome to test out my 1911, which uses these type of sights the next time we're both at Shiloh if you want to see what they look like.

I'm hunting a G22 for my brother and it's like pulling teeth. (Of course Waco is the black hole of all that is good)

Yeah, I checked there. It's a last resort. I don't have a gunbroker account, don't care to make one. Lol. I always try to support local business when I can. And apparently NOBODY around here can swing it.  Just ugh.  I guess I should just make myself an account and find out what the transfer fees are around here.

I am planning on planning a January meet pretty soon. Lol.

Sorry to derail your thread OP. I was meaning to say in my first post that I also looked for a G17 when I started this hunt for a G22. Can't find either.

Thanks Adam for the feedback.  Yes I would like to see the Dawson sights on your 1911.  I have old eye problems and this might help.
Thanks also CJ for the info video, will study it.
