Who's ready for some cool weather shooting in January?  :thumbsup1:

This January's match will have 8 stages, 111 rounds

Stage listing

Sign up here

Stages might change a bit for rule compliance, safety, etc, but they'll stay mostly the same.

UPDATE: updated stage 1, added short stage 7

Changed stage 1 - it used to be a standards stage, I switched it to a scenario stage. Added 3 ~24 yard shots to see who knows how to hit far targets under time :)

Just signed up :th_thicon_idea: :th_thicon_idea: :th_thicon_idea: :th_thicon_idea:

I can't make heads or tails of these listings.  I was just trying to see what I'm getting myself into.   :th_thicon_lol: :th_thicon_lol: :th_thicon_lol: :th_thicon_lol:  I assume P# means Position number.  So you shoot from position one, then move on.  What decides when you move to the next?  And, what do the shaded targets mean?  I assume the X targets means DON'T hit them.  Right?  And the numbers in squares is the distance.  Maybe I'll understand it.   :th_thicon_lol: :th_thicon_lol: :th_thicon_lol:

You have to read the course description in each link. They indicate what you have to do. Yes, P# is a shooting position (numbered typically in order you have to shoot there).

I wouldn't try to read too hard into it until you've seen one in person :)

Just know that there is movement between shooting positions, some shooting while moving, some long shots (~24 yards), some shots *through* a van, some over a car, and 111 required rounds.

Looking like great weather this weekend, for those of us who like it a little cooler than surface of the sun!

Me too - I ramp up my shooting in the winter because I effectively stop shooting outdoors during the summer. I grew up in Ohio, I love me some cold weather!

Just watched the video for new shooters on the Shiloh website.  I'm trying to work some of it out in my head.  I can already tell it's going to be hard for me to remember to take my finger out of the trigger guard when moving.  I'm so used to once I start shooting to just keep shooting.  When we set up our own little move and shoots out at the farm there is never a stop and move, just move.  Know what I mean?  My plan is to not worry about the time at all and focus only on following the rules and hitting something.  Lol.

Trust me, if you move with your finger in the trigger guard you will hear someone shouting "FINGER". And if your muzzle gets too far from target direction they'll be shouting "MUZZLE"
The new shooter orientation will cover what you need to know.
Procedural penalties just cost you three seconds. Safety infractions can get you DQ'd and sent home.

What he said. Finger in the trigger guard while not shooting is a big no-no in IDPA. It's even bigger in USPSA, where there's no warning and just an immediate DQ.

So, how was it?  I missed it!!  I was actually teaching a CHL class for once.

Things are changing at the RayRay house.  I'm hoping I can join you guys regular soon but for now it's going to be hit or miss.

The match turned out pretty well. We had 35 people come out. A slow start (setup took a while) meant we were shooting around 9:45. One snafu where a stage was broken down before a squad go to shoot it, so we threw out stage 4 (it was only a 12 round stage, so they didn't miss too much).

I ended up 7th, in overall standings, accuracy and raw time. Weird. The top 6 overall people were WHIDPA folks.
