Thanks Dom, great idea. I know a few Shiloh shooters have been suggesting that we should have a forum for a while now and I've been specifically avoiding that topic. So thanks to whoever suggested this to someone who could do something about it!  :th_thicon_idea:

Been a user lurking here for over a year, since it was the Houston Gun Forum, and finally had a reason for a first post.

Welcome Bob.

Man I wish I lived in the area and could participate with you guys. I still haven't made it to watch a match at the local range yet, but I just got my Saturdays back. So soon. Lol.

A 3 hour ride one way is a tough think to pull off during the work week.

I have shot Thursday nights at Shiloh about 6 times now and plan on doing the classifier in Sept. Adam, I have got a IDPA rule question maybe you can answer. Can I use a Smith & Wesson M&P VTAC 9mm with a Crimson Trace Light Guard in IDPA SSP? Does the size or the weight of the Light Guard disqualify it from SSP? I shot that low light stage earlier this month and it got me to thinking and I could always take the LightGuard off every time I shoot IDPA but would rather not. Any thoughts?

Don't forget about the $10.00 insurance fee on the first day. The insurance fee is good for one year. The first shoot is $15.00 range fee plus the $10.00 insurance fee. After that it's $15.00 range fee plus $5.00 club fee. And I think you are required to join IDPA if you decide to continue shooting. But, like Dom said, there is a lot of information at www.shilohidpa.com

Don't forget about the $10.00 insurance fee on the first day. The insurance fee is good for one year.

Just a note: the insurance fee is good for a calendar year. It (and all membership to the Shiloh Tactical Shooting Club) resets on Jan 1 of every year (per our bylaws, and our insurance policy effective date).

Can I use a Smith & Wesson M&P VTAC 9mm with a Crimson Trace Light Guard in IDPA SSP? Does the size or the weight of the Light Guard disqualify it from SSP?

Unfortunately it would disqualify it from IDPA completely :) this is one of those areas where the game and "your daily carry" don't mesh very well.

There is no provision to allowing a CT light guard in the rulebook under the allowed modifications for any division (SSP especially which doesn't allow any externally visible modification). If you want to run a classifier or compete *for real* in IDPA (sanctioned match, large weekend match or otherwise just want to take the game seriously), it needs to come off.

I knew that "external modifications" were not allowed, I just wasn't thinking. I was side tracked about fitting in the box or weight limits. Thanks for the reply. I don't know too much about these forum things. See ya at Shiloh
