Yeah that too. For now I'm only shooting every other week but if/when I can move to weekly, the full membership will be done.

Get a hold of Garry Newton via email or phone here:

Otherwise I have no idea :)

Will do, and will post what he says.

IDPA and Basic's Course update from Gary about the classes:

Quote
I try and put one on about every other month as time and the range permits.

I can also do individual classes for those with the need or schedule that precludes attending one of the regular classes. The individual class is at the same rate of pay/range fee.

I had a great time shooting IDPA at Shiloh last Thursday.  Everyone was very helpful and friendly.  I have already applied/joined IDPA and have signed up for this Thursday's match!!

Thanks especially to Don who was assigned to watch the "new guy" and make sure that I kne what was going on and stayed out of trouble!

It was good meeting more forum members, Richard.
I'm shooting IDPA at SGA tonight with my son so I won't make it Thursday at Shiloh. I would be nice to shoot at a different place every day but it aint in the budget.

Not sure if I "met" you at all Richard but if you are at the BUG match on the 29th let me know who you are.

Yea...I met a lot of folks that night, but not sure if we were introduced.  I will try to make sure I catch up with you when we are there.  I will not be there on the 29th though...

I am at Spring Cypress and Hwy249..takes about 10-15 mins to get to Shiloh, SGA, or Hot Wells...:)

Shiloh is sort of on my way home, so I will probably shoot there on Thursdays...

I'm near 6/1960 and 290 so Hotwells is closest but Shiloh is about 20 mins depending on traffic. SGA is about 10-15 more.

I just signed up at IDPA.com and now looking for guidance. It looks like all the matches are around 6:00. I work in Richmond, TX Mon - Fri from 8 - 5 so I would be hard pressed to make it there on time.
If I wanted to just come out and learn more about it, would it matter if I arrived late? I'm really new to all of this and just need some guidance as to how to get started. I have questions also about joining the Shiloh club and was also wondering if there were opportunities to just go practice prior to competing or is the competing considered the practice? So many questions lol sorry!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It looks like the two closest IDPA clubs are connected somehow since I see events for both locations on the Shilo website.
If anyone would care to call me and explain how this all works, feel free. My name is Greg and my number is 713-208-8595. And yes, I am a CHL holder :-)

From Richmond, you could take the Grand Parkway (99) around from 59 to 249 and make it to Shiloh close to 6:00-6:15pm which would be good enough.
You could certainly come out and watch a match first and ask questions, even if you don't make it in time to have a "new shooter orientation" and shoot the match.
Unfortunately there aren't really any ranges that will let you practice IDPA style shooting, but some ranges will allow you to draw from a holster once you "qualify" with them.
