Quote
Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, spearheaded the repeal effort and said the regulation unfairly stigmatizes the disabled and infringes on their constitutional right to bear arms. He said that the mental disorders covered through the regulation are filled with “vague characteristics that do not fit into the federal mentally defective standard” prohibiting someone from buying or owning a gun.

Grassley cited eating and sleep disorders as examples of illnesses that could allow a beneficiary to be reported to the background check system if they also have a third party to manage their benefits.

Can you be put on that list because you temporarily took meds and got counseling to help with depression due to loss of a close loved one? How do you get off the list?
Can you ever get off the list?

No I do not think this is a good nor good enough.

This has/would have affected pops, who is the way he is not because he's on antidepressants, but because he's illiterate and physically disabled, and I already manage the family finances; the case worker over at the S.S.A. said it'd just be easier to do things this way, and signed us up.

I remember reading about it in Shotgun News when was first proposed; even then I thought it was a really knuckleheaded idea. Good riddance, IMO.

“If a specific individual is likely to be violent due to the nature of their mental illness, then the government should have to prove it,” Grassley said.

What a novel idea, innocence until proven otherwise.

However,
Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., stated “If you can’t manage your own financial affairs, how can we expect that you’re going to be a responsible steward of a dangerous, lethal firearm."

As such Mr. Murphy you are hereby directed to turn in all of your guns due to your lack of ability to manage your money and the country's money.

TXAZ,

Chris Murphy is a DIMocRAT & a DOLT, who is UNFIT to be in any "position of public trust", imho.

ALL of the DOLTS need to GO HOME & close their LARGE, constantly open mouths, forthwith.

yours, satx

It is a very good idea to block that EO.  My wife has had a financial conservator since she was 27.  And she taught at a University for 20 years after that.  She just can't handle finances.
