..a gripe..
« on: December 17, 2017, 11:47:37 AM »
.
I ordered a 5.56 mag loader from Midway USA on 9 Dec, an in-stock item they said would be delivery by the 16th (Saturday, the day before the forum "shoot")

well, guess what.....it didn't get here

now, after finally receiving a usps (boo usps !) tracking number I see that it wasn't even sent until the 16th and the latest location for the item is Pittsburgh, Pa today (the 17th)

WTF ?

bah humbug on you Midway USA - you've taken my last order

Good, that means I'll continue to get good service from them.

I've notice over scores of Christmases that the packages either are expedited overnight / next day (whether you paid for them or not) or possibly in Tango's case they underestimated their shipping backlog.
Still, it's the merchant's problem, particularly for a mail order place like Midway.
While I haven't had this experience at Midway, I like Amazon if I can find it there, better.

(IMO only)... Bad time of the year to make “final” judgement on either retailers or shipping companies.
Just saw a blurb on TV about how “online ordering” had increased 30% this year, but the delivery companies (FedEx, UPS, etc.) haven’t increased their delivery truck/van fleets by anywhere close.  And while these companies (as well as ‘retailers’) have been trying to hire “seasonal workers”, many of them have had a difficult time finding workers who are willing to work.  (My words; not the TV report... they were more tactful than that, but it was the jest of what the report was trying to say).  Think they said something about the “experience level”... but, after all, how much experience does it take to sort boxes and/or load a truck?  [Came across to me, as just being a snowflake excuse... in so many words].

I agree. Now is the time of year when the Christmas rush is definitely playing hell with shipping schedules and quotas. It sucks that it happened to you, but then again they are having to juggle you and probably tens of thousands of other people at the same time.

I'm sure if you talked it out with them they'd attempt to make it good, maybe to the tune of 10% off your next order, or at the very least a refund on your shipping costs.

there won't be a "next order"

it was "in stock" and ordered the 9th - shipped the 16th (the day they said it was 'sposed to get here - total b.s.

I also put in an order with them on Dec. 4 th and it kept getting delayed with USPS and it finally got here last night at  7:30  in my mail box.
Never had any problems with them in the past , just has to be that time of year with the over load.

Having a similar problem with Selway Armory. Was wanting to take my sons Super Blackhawk in .454 Casull to the meet yesterday so on the 8th I ordered some .454, .32 ACP for my new (to me) CZ 50 and some .45 ACP. Took my money and sent me an E-mail saying they would notify me when it shipped. Still waiting on that notification. Have ordered from them several times in the past and received it within 5 days max. I don't think it's asking to much to be notified of the delay and give me an approximate shipping date. Guess I'll be on the phone tomorrow. Ho Ho Ho!
Midway use to be my go to place but I haven't used them in a couple of years. I have found better pricing on a lot of things they offer by using AmmoSeek or one of the other bots. I did have to  to use their customer service once (screws not threaded for M Lok verticle grip) and they took care of the problem within a couple of days.

Ordered on the 9th. Shipped the 16th?  Why didn’t you call them on the 10th or 11th and cancel the order?   If you waited a week knowing you needed it expedited and they had not shipped them that is your fault.

huh ?  I was expecting it to be delivered on the 16th (as they stated) so why would I cancel on the "10th or 11th" ?

but nice to see your post

Because it didn’t ship on time so it won’t arrive on time.   Most of these places receive hundreds or thousands of orders every day. They won’t keep track of yours. If your not proactive you can’t expect them to be either.

Here is an example. I got an amazon prime order that I placed at 09:00 this morning. It’s scheduled delivery is 20:00 Wednesday. If it ships in the next two hours it might make it on time. If it ships today before 17:00 it will make it Thursday which is ok. If it does not ship today I will cancel the order because I will be out of town starting Friday for the next two weeks and I don’t want several hundred dollars of electronics sitting on my front porch while I am on vacation.

You can thumbdown me all you want but I am giving you good advice on how to manage shipping and online retailers in the 21st century. You have to be on top of these guys.

I have a package due on Thur. But, it it falls behind on Fri due to the holidays, my office is closed. So, I will have to go to the UPS website Thur evening and have it redirected so I can pick it up closer to where I live

ordered on the 9th, order accepted with stated delivery date of the 16th.....no tracking information provided until the 17th, now says delivery the 23rd

it's not hard to understand

no reason to cancel (as was suggested) prior to the 16th as I fully expected it to be delivered on the 16th
