I have to calm down my 96 year old mother, who lives in a retirement home and gets only mainstream media.  She still votes Republican and voted for Trump. She is still a pretty savvy person. Yet on a weekly basis she asks me if Trump is really going to be impeached and why is he doing all those bad things?

When I hear that from her and think about the masses who are now  programed by the media that Trump is a bumbling idiot, who is taking the country in the wrong direction and must be stopped, I very much worry about the next election.

randyjaco,

Fwiw, my late mother, who passed away at 98YO in 09/16, believed that she was a newlywed & it was DEC 1941 for about the last 2 years of her life.  Thus I know what you mean about your mom.

Nonetheless, her opinions are NOT typical of the vast majority of adults, as most adults believe NOTHING spewed out of the BIG mouths of the LYING left/media. .

Considering WHAT ALL she seen in her life. And how far out there the liberals got.

There is something special for us who KNOW how it was to live a simpler and purer life.
( which is also a curse in a way,, we also see how far things have gone south off the deep end into moron land. )

She got to live her youth again. Id say GOD granted her a blessing.  :thumbsup1:

If we could all be so lucky.  :th_thicon_idea:

DCD327,

The last time that I talked to mother in person, she didn't recognize me but did tell me how very handsome that my father looked in his USAAF uniform.
(Mother lived from a time when horses/wagons/buggies were still commonplace in rural Texas, saw the Roaring Twenties as a young girl, lived through The Great Depression, was married about 0300, 08DEC1941 at her pastor's home, was a "young married woman" throughout WWII, saw some of the first jet airplanes over her quarters shortly after the war, taught school for several years & lived to see men land on the Moon, as well as many other "modern conveniences"/events of the 21st Century.)

Strangely enough, I've come to see her last years in much the same way as you suggested.

yours, satx

My Grandmother lived from 1906 to 1993. She seen plenty. Took the milk to town in steel milk cans with the horse & buggy. She was lying in bed in total agony in pain from cancer. We started talking about all the old times and stuff. I reminded her of ALL the people she was going to get to see AGAIN. Her Mom & Dad & Grandmother. Also my Grandfather who was the love of her life. She died a couple hours later happy and peaceful  as could be.

My Great Grandfather had never driven anything but a horse & oxen. When they got their first car, a model T ford about 1920,, my great Grandfather drove it home. Coming in the driveway, he was heard YELLING  "WHOA  WHOA WHOA " ,, and CRASH, drove the car right through the horse stable.   :th_thicon_funny:

My Great Grandmother was born in 1876 and died in 1976. I remember her well. She pretty much seen it all. Her father died when she was a child not too. She, her mother and 8 year old brother stayed right here on the homestead. They were the first settlers in my area. The closest neighbor was 30 miles away. They had panthers and wolves. When they first came here in 1840, the indians from upstate NY still came here to hunt. They had oxen, 400 acres and a cabin. My great great Grandfather died from blood poisoning after getting a splinter in his thumb clearing the virgin pine forest so they could farm. My great Grandfather passed away in his 40's from some sickness they didnt even know what it was.  The thing I remember my Great Grandmother saying the most was " I have been so blessed in life".

I often thought about all the things they seen and experienced.

I would have almost rather lived back then, as to see the world today.

Actually there's nothing wrong with my mother's mind. She can't see (read) very well and her balance is poor, but she is sharp as a tack. The problem is that most of the news she gets in the home  is the standard ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN with a smattering of Fox. So about 95 percent of what she hears is about Trump destroying the country, is a criminal, is a racist, etc. Most of the people she is in contact with have taken the kool-aid. So for her, what is reality? Most of our conversations now are current events and political issues .

I find   that all doctor offices and hospitals have a default TV setting to liberal channels.

My wife has worked in two different nursing homes in the past twenty years, they are also playing liberal TV.

I have never been in a medical connected building that didnt have Msn or Cnn, or some libtard morning show on. Our local hospital dont even have Fox on their cable subscription. They get to pick and choose their channels,, and its ALL liberal. Last time I was in there they didnt have a damn thing for a conservative to watch. Even when my wife brought my laptop in,, no matter,  they had their internet blocking conservative web sites. The best I could do was get on you tube and watch military documentarys.

SO I can see where older people in medical care  are being bombarded with bullshit.

God knows they DONT need their blood pressure jacked up all day long.
Last time my Dad was in the hospital a week. The liberal news crap on the TV had his blood pressure setting the alarm off constantly.
