I get my flu shot in September. Found out a few weeks ago that the vaccine used has little to no effect against the H3N2 flu strain that's spreading around now. All I could do was cross my fingers and hope. It wasn't to be.
On day six with it now but seems to be letting up. Threw a combo punch of Tami Flu, Gatorade, Tylenol and 120 proof bourbon at it which seemed to keep the edge off.

the Wife had "something" about 2 months ago, which I came down with a week after she started - but mine lasted for 4-5 weeks - my age probably had something to do with my slow "recovery" (and I'm not a Bourbon drinker  )

Our church family in Angelina County is just now getting over what I have called nothing less than an epidemic.
From just after Thanksgiving until last Sunday our attendance was less than 1/2 normal attendance. These were not folks w/ the sniffles and "feel bads" or holiday excuses to miss. These were really sick folks. One report I got said Texas has been one of the hardest hit states and that East Texas is the hardest hit place in Texas.

One school system in a small town here turned out school a week before they were scheduled for the holidays and hired a company to come in and disinfect the classrooms, restrooms, offices, everything. The busses were disinfected the same way. Their attendance was less than 50% when they did that.
It has been tough here.
Thank you Lord I have not caught it. No house visits through this. Telephone checks and prayers over the tele.
Hope we are close to back to normal.

A coworker (I work side by side with) had the same thing 2 weeks ago and was forced to go home until they were better

Out of the group ( 4 of us) I did not come down with it...the other 2 did, and it's not the first time I have been near someone who is that sick and still walked away clean

I have never figured out my immune system, but it works for me

i don't do flu shots, and haven't in at least twenty years. two years in a row years ago, i got flu shots. the first time, i got the flu anyways, and it was really, really bad. second year i got one, it put me in the hospital and i dang near died. it was that bad. i was off work for over three weeks.

no more flu shots for me! my wife gets one every year because of her constant contact with people in public.

I’m with Axxe,  anyone remember the Swine flu shots circa 1976? There was a cluster. 
I briefly worked for the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee who personally noted to not get the shots as they didn’t know all the “fine print” on the shots and the side effects.

I have gotten 1 flu shot in my life (57) and it was 20 plus yrs ago. NEVER WILL I GET ONE AGAIN. I contracted the worse flu ever right afterwards. Too this day ( knocking on wood) I HAVE NOT gotten flu since.

I have gotten 1 flu shot in my life (57) and it was 20 plus yrs ago. NEVER WILL I GET ONE AGAIN. I contracted the worse flu ever right afterwards. Too this day ( knocking on wood) I HAVE NOT gotten flu since.

that is very similar to how i am as well. i either don't get the flu, or if i do happen to get it, it's less severe and doesn't last as long as most others around me when they have it. but at the expense of dang near dying, spending a week in the hospital, and close to three weeks off work, not fun at all.

Me and the wife got the flu together back around 1963  and she says we both had gotten shots for it .
Talk about a bad experience at the time we lived in a small apt. with 1 bathroom and a 2 year old
after that we never get flu shots.
We have been lucky as only colds some times.

It is terrible to do some things together w/ you Helpmate. We have only done that once and thankful for that. Mother would bring something to eat. Had a key to the house. Never came in. Just opened the door and set it in. We both missed over a week of work. I am so thankful we have not been sick this year as many as have been BAD sick in our community and church.

that one year i got the flu shot, even after i got over the flu like symptoms of the flu, i had a cough that lingered for about a month. it was so bad, that my wife at the time made me sleep on the couch because my coughing was keeping her awake at night! i kept going back to the doctor, and they kept trying different prescription cough medicines to clear up the cough, but nothing was really working for long. finally, he gave me a prescription for some little clear looking gel type capsules. i don't even remember what they were now, but they cleared up that cough in just a few days.

Had some blood clots in my lungs once. Coughed like that but no couch for me. Had to set up in a recliner and could not lean it back very far at all or would start coughing again. Like you they could not stop the cough. I don't remember what finally did.
