...On a related note, two weeks ago the Oklahoma Governor vetoed a well supported constitutional carry bill. Oklahoma carry laws and regulations are very similar to Texas LTC law. Oh, and kudos to the armed citizens.

I don't think they can reintroduce but wouldn't surprise me if it comes up next session and is signed off.

My gut feeling was that this incident stemmed from a domestic problem. Unless you live in Chicago an armed person entering a restaurant and randomly targeting a mother and daughter, or any innocent person, is a fairly rare occurrence. You know Occams Razor. There usually is a reason for someone to shoot another person. However screwed up that reason(s) or that persons thinking may be. I am well aware that random shootings do occur. I'm sure that law enforcement will eventually put this puzzle together.

It looks like the good guy was outside the restaurant when he engaged the bad guy according to OKC PD, who reported that  "A bystander with a pistol confronted the shooter outside the restaurant and fatally shot him."

yes, read and understand the "outside the restaurant" aspect - concerned for the good guy tho if he was in violation of "okie carry laws" - or if the restaurant has "no no laws, regards firearms", did the fellow violate that policy (law) by having been in the restaurant earlier

not trying to short-sheet the guy - simply hope his action was "legal" (for his sake..)

Understand and agree.  On the other hand, consider the number of OKC TV stations, OKCPD senior officials, persons in the restaurant and citizens in general have gone on TV calling the guy a hero, I'm guessing anyone trying to prosecute him in conservative OKC would be run out of town, not to mention he'd have hundred of pro bono lawyers working for him.
With elections less than 6 months away, my guess is no prosecutor is willing to touch the guy for even jaywalking.

The Scout's administrative reaction is defensive in nature and predictable.
This is following the admission of openly gay boys, the already coed Venture crews, and the highly publicized "impressive" number of condoms allegedly consumed by Olympians).

Their administration really is in a difficult space:    ...     What would you do if your teenager was going to the Jamboree?

Been there and have been very involved with Scouting for a long time, so I'd hope my kids had the values to keep it in their pants and not unknowingly get into a compromising situation they can't easily extract themselves from.

would care for the "hero" if he had violated or was going to violate the restaurant's gun policy

Ditto, and I'd gladly send him $'s for a defense fund if he was indicted.  But in OKC, I'm pretty sure that 'ain't gonna happen'.

Tango I saw 1 article / tweet when I posted this that said the good guy was a CHL.  Let me see if I can go back and find that.

(On the other hand, if the bad guy is dead, do you care if it was by the hands of a CHL holder, a rabid coyote or zombies  :scream3:  )

If your "hero" violated the restaurant gun policy, in this instance, would you care?

wouldn't "care" a bit about the fact that the country now has 1 less worthless p.o.s. running around doing evil

would care for the "hero" if he had violated or was going to violate the restaurant's gun policy
